IBM has released an evaluation kit for hardware and software engineers interested in evaluating the PowerPC 405 architecture. See here and and download the kit here.

Sad news for the embedded world... glibc maintainers have abandoned powerpc/nofpu. Sadder are comments like "I'll check with my superiors to see if they wanted it maintained, or if a customer/contract depends on it. But, I probably wouldn't care if it goes away."

soon only x86-64 und i386 ports in glibc because lot of redhat customer/contracts depend on these machines?

Finally, there is an IBM Java 5 Standard Edition Beta for Linux. AND IT DOES COME WITH A MOZILLA PLUGIN! My PowerMac thanks to IBM for the good news!
